Here we are one week in, to my journey from Fat To Fit. well its just a little over a week really.
So… how’s it going? Well its been tough I knew it would be but making changes is hard when you are so used to doing/eating a certain way. I have had the encouragement from the Mr this week to get back to the gym. The thought of walking in to the gym after well not going for some long was a little bit daunting for me.
We walked there (also good exercise) and once there I git the bullet and spoke to one of the instructors there and told him I hadn’t been for a long time and how much weight I wanted to lose. He was really nice to speak to and happy to help me get started on my journey.
My gym has these key thing that you can put into the machine so you can record your workouts and how well you are doing.
The instructors can even load on workouts for you so you don’t have to do anything other than put the key in the machine, it will change the speed or difficulty of the exercise with out you having to do anything. and when using weight it will tell you which weight to set it on. Which I think is great! With new work outs loaded on to the key I was set to go.
This is my first day back at the gym face
I really wasn’t looking forward to it and was very conscious of others looking at the fat girl working out. Really it wasn’t all that bad, I just put my ear phones in and turned up the volume, Although I would have preferred to be were a hat and sunglasses so no one could see me but hey oh. I really shouldn’t have been worrying about it really as everyone else there seemed to be in their own zone and focusing on themselves and not others.
Did I enjoy my first work out on this journey?
Well I have to say that yes I really enjoyed it. So much so that we planned to go the next day together too….
When I woke up my legs were sore and I hadn’t had the best nights sleep I really didn’t want to go to the gym. I would have much rather had stayed in bed all day.
As you can see from the picture on the left I really wasn’t in the mood for a work out. the picture on the right was after, a very red face and a slight smile.
I felt great after my work out despite not wanting to go. I did a different workout to the one I did the day before, it included weights and cardio. After chatting to the instructor about what kind of work outs you should do to help you lose weight he said that as well as doing cardio you need to do some kind of weight too to help build your muscle. As cardio alone yes burn fat but can’t also burn your muscles as well.
I know it was a great work out because the next day my body was aching but a good aching if you know what I mean.
With the mr back at work and the kids still being off from school I have found that I haven’t been able to get to the gym….
Have I been on the scales this week? No I have avoided them as well there isn’t going to be a change just as yet and I don’t want to be jumping on the scales all the time like I used to do when I was on a diet. Plus the numbers that show up scare me.
My goal for this next week is going to be making time to get to the gym and to look at my diet and portion size.
If you have any tips or advice please tell me I ned all the help that I can get.
Well done for getting back to the gym, I think that’s the hardest part for me, finding the courage to get back to the gyn! Good luck x
Good luck and well done for your first week and bit!
Well done on your first week, that’s great! I think those key things can be really encouraging too as you feel like you have really achieved something! 🙂
Well done you for making some big changes, have faith in yourself! Good luck x
That key sounds like an excellent idea!
Good luck on your journey x x
Well done on getting back there – that’s often the hardest part. My advice? Just go do your workouts, no-one is watching you they are all off in their own minds, thinking about everything that they have got to do, and use the music to spur you on. In a few weeks, how your body feels will spur you on but for now – use the music!! Something pumping! Good luck!
Well done you! I’m sure that nobody was thinking that at the gym – everyone’s just there to do their thing! Could you arrange to go to the gym with someone else at a regular time? I always find it easier to make myself do things if I’ve arranged to go with somebody. Good luck with it all!
I need to start doing some more exercise again, was getting quite good at (finally) loosing thebaby weight but fell off the wagon over the holidays – good luck!
Well done on your first week 🙂
Well done on actually getting to the gym – it is in my diary for when the kids go back to school
I used to love going to the gym, doing a class and then relaxing in the steam room and sauna. Then the gym changed all the class times so I couldn’t get to them due to work x
Well done for getting motivated. I find having a good stretch before and after really helps achey muscles. And a really good playlist keeps me motivated.
My advice is to download and listen to songs that relate back to a really fun time of your life whilst on the treadmill – keeps me going… hope it does you too xx
Well done you! I have been so rubbish with exercise this year. ss
Well done for starting Rachel, that’s a challenge in itself. I need to lose up to 2 stone so need a good kick myself! I guess the key thing is doing something you enjoy so it doesn’t feel like a chore!
i cant wait to have my baby so i can get back into shape afterwards i feel like ive enjoyed divulgin in choc and cake to much over this pregnancy
