Blogger Board Gameclub- Splendor

Amidst the European Renaissance, there are more ways of becoming rich than ever before! Global trade routes are now a reality and nobles, once content with large castles and fur robes, now seek dark sapphires and glittering diamonds.

Experience the riches of this era in Splendor, a fast elegant, and intuitive game of simple actions and difficult decisions.

Splendor can be explained in 5 minutes and can play in half an hour, In Splendor, you lead a merchant guild. Using tokens representing gemstones, you will acquire developments which produce new gems (bonuses). These bonuses reduce the cost of your purchases and attract noble patrons. Each turn is quick one and only one, action. The first player to reach 15 prestige points by accumulating nobles and development triggers the end of the game. Works with two players just as well as with three or four.

Have you ever wanted to play a game that simulated the cut and thrust of being a precious gem magnet? No? Neither had I until I played Splendor. Game play is quick (30mins per game) and varied enough for multiple strategies to win and for each game to be slightly different. But its all pretty easy stuff and you can play this game with people of all ages, skill sets and gaming backgrounds. The game is well made, and the box is actually structured so it holds everything in a dedicated place.
